Enhancing Communication

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Bridgewater State University provides students with a comprehensive understanding of speech pathology, audiology and related specialties. BSU graduates are passionate health professionals who understand the critical role communication plays in society, and they go on to serve as clinical resources for communities in Southeastern Massachusetts and beyond.

As licensed clinicians with extensive background in the field, our faculty members work closely with students to foster a hands-on learning experience. Our pre-professional program in Communication Sciences and Disorders prepares undergraduates who hope to work as speech-language assistants or to pursue advanced study – a requirement in order to gain national certification. Our Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology program prepares the next generation of clinicians to help individuals with communication disorders and differences, and challenges our students to discover and apply the best preventative, diagnostic and treatment practices for the 21st century. The graduate program provides students with the academic and clinical coursework required to pursue national certification and state licensure as a speech-language pathologist, and is in its initial candidacy for accreditation through the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) Council of Academic Accreditation.
